Winter Solstice

  • Winter Solstice

marks the longest night of the year,

and the turning point when the days start to lengthen again.

Westwood Unitarian Congregation hosts our annual all-ages Winter Solstice service,

    "Sharing the Light"

led by the Reverend Anne Barker, to honour this special time.

Winter darkness and cold can make people feel isolated,

so we gather to help shape our fears into hopeful expectation,

to recognize the gifts darkness can bring,

and to Share the Light, both figuratively and literally.

Honouring ancient traditions, we call the directions, hear stories about the Solstice,

sing, chant, remember, and look ahead,

renewing our faith in the cycle of life.

Westwood’s choir, Harmonia, is joined by other singers and Celtic Harpist, Gordon Ritchie.

A free will collection is gathered; this year it is

in support of the Terra Centre for Pregnant and Parenting Teens.

    Everyone is Welcome!
