  • This trip is brought to you from non other than our favorite Spaniard, Luis. This event is limited in numbers as he is providing accommodation and there's not a lot of room . Please read below all the information provided:-

The idea is doing a MeetUp in a little town in the mountains between the border of Valencia - Cuenca - Teruel, where my family is coming from.

We'll do canyoning the 11th August 2017 and several hikes the other days.

At the same time, the town organizes many activities during the week from the 5th to the 13th (night music, cultural activities, sports, ....). Attached you can find as an example the activities done last year for the cultural week. It's in Spanish but you can have a vague idea of the events. In any case, that should be a complement for the main activity we will do there, the canyoning.

We have a nice landscape in the middle of the mountains and some canyons with one main river and some streams. One of the streams has a narrow canyon you can walk backwards the current. It takes around one day in total. Normally going early in the morning to avoid the sun and the strong midday heat since at the beginning of the hike there're not many shades. Having lunch at the end of the canyon. Coming back for dinner later on. All of it is walking from the town. The pics are from the canyon and from the bridge to access the town.

We can fly there Friday via Madrid since there are several flights with Ryanair, Iberia, and Aer Lingus (2.5 hours flight and around 2h drive). Also it's possible to fly to Valencia with Ryanair some days a week (2.5h flight and 1h drive). The best option will be renting a car or van all together. If you are flying via Valencia. If you are coming by yourself, just contact me to tell you how to arrive there.

For accommodation, I can offer my grandma's house. Not new for sure but at least with electricity and water. No wifi, neither TV, no kitchen, nor mobile service in many of the valley where the little town is located. Only free wifi in the Social Club where we organize all the activities.

Since the little town has no food service, I will ask to provide food for us. The price will be €60 per day including breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and I need confirmation before the end of June.

In case you want to be by yourself, there are also small lodges and apartments available in the main town ("Posada Manolón", "Apartments Azucena", "Casa Serrana").

Just for your knowledge the little town "Las Rinconadas" has around 30 people living all year round with maximum of 300 in August maybe. The "main" town "Santa Cruz de Moya" has around 200 people all year round and it has small supermarket. In any case, there are many agriculture fields with fresh food (vegetables and some fruits), bakery, and butchers. Of course, also three bars and one outdoors pool.

Attached you can find some pics of the excursion along the stream. There are more pic in this Facebook link:
