Shabu Shabu House

The owners and workers were VERY friendly and accommodating. They said anytime we are welcome. Now for some Shabu Shabu. Members have requested a weekend since rush hour makes it difficult to get to Antioch. Also, check out traditional Thai items on the menu.

Shabu-shabu is a Japanese dish. The term is derived from the sound emitted when the ingredients are stirred in the cooking pot. The dish is related to sukiyaki in style: Both consist of thinly sliced meat and vegetables and served with dipping sauces. However, Shabu-shabu is considered to be more savory and less sweet than sukiyaki.

From I-24:

Take Haywood Lane exit off I-24, go east (or left if coming from the north). Turn right onto Antioch Pike. Go about one block to next red light and turn left onto Richards Road. Shabu Shabu House is located in the strip center immediately to the left after turning.

I asked them to set up 4 burners. We can add more. Only a few responded so I am assuming 8-10 will want shabu shabu. When you arrive, go ahead and get your drinks - they do have beer. You can pay cash or debit/credit.

How shabu shabu works: You have a choice of 2 broth types, spicy or not spicy. They will also give you a couple sauces to add to your broth to make it spicier. Meat combo ($25) comes with an assortment of veggies, or you can opt for veggies only. If you want one type of meat, I would suggest you order the veggie option ($10) and add your choice of meat for an extra $5, $7 for shrimp. Again, shabu shabu will easily serve 2-3 people so you can split the cost.

Have to pick up some lights for my kayak. Which means I'll be at a distant eat and I may just be EARLY instead of 30 minutes late!!! WOOHOO

Just a last minute, gentle reminder to update your RSVP if you are unable to attend today. I'm looking forward to it.

Already full, WOW! As we get closer to the date, consider if you would like to order shabu shabu or off the menu. I will check back later to get an idea. We will arrange seating accordingly. One order of the shabu shabu will serve 2-3 people, additional veggies and meat can be ordered as needed (for a lessor price). It's a great sharing experience! Last time I was there, two of us shared one "meat combo" for $25 and still had enough left for 1-2 meals each to take home.

Hey, everyone, our reservations are ready for Sunday. PLEASE PLEASE update your RSVP if you can't attend. I promised I would give as an accurate a count as possible by Saturday afternoon. Also, message me if you plan to get shabu shabu (meat combo or veggie, or some other variation) or order off the regular menu. This will help when deciding who to sit next to. Remember the shabu shabu will easily feed 2-3 people so you can split the cost. I may do the veggie option and order a side of chicken. You can message me through meetup or rosemarie1969@gmail. Please put your name in the email so I know who it's from (you'd be surprised). I'm looking forward to it!!!
