Making and Tasting Fresh Cheese Paneer, Cream Cheese, Creme Fraiche Mascarpone
• What we'll do In keeping with the beginning of the year, this meeting will be an intro/review of the beginning cheese types. We will taste and demonstrate making Crème Fraîche, Paneer, Cream Cheese and Mascarpone. We are able to make the Paneer cheese during the meeting, but we will need volunteers for the other three cheeses. These will need to be made in advance and brought for the tasting that night. The club will purchase supplies for making these and provide the milk as well. Please reply to me if you are willing to volunteer. Each volunteer will make only one kind of cheese. I will reply when you can pick up your materials and milk, likely February 16th and 17th. We will be charging $5.00 for this meeting, and payment is made at the door. For those attending, even if you are not an official volunteer, please prepare one of these four cheeses to share with us at our tasting. The more the merrier. This is your opportunity to get feedback on what a great cheese maker you are. Plus then there's more cheese for all to enjoy. If you would rather not make a cheese, please bring some type of food to share - or wine or beer or cider or non-alcholic beverage. We will be providing bread and crackers and tableware. What's up next? March will be our making and tasting of four types of Chèvre, using different ripening cultures. See you in February, sooner than we think, too!! What we're about

Public Group

Our group is a growing group of cheese hobbyists located primarily in Sonoma County. The cheesemaking hobby has been gaining momentum and confidence in the past couple of years and this club plans to build on that momentum to advance the hobby...and of course to have fun with it! The meetings take place within Sonoma County. What type of meetings? Of course we will learn that as we go, but creamery tours, how-to demonstrations, style talks, cheese and recipe sharing, pairings, and more yet to be conceived ideas can be expected. Please join in. All ages and demographics are desired.

Dues are $20 a year to cover the administration costs of belonging to Meetup, banking fees, supplies for meetings, and defraying costs for speakers where the fees do not cover all of the costs.

If you are looking for a great group to join, love to eat cheese and want to learn how to make cheese, this is your group. Join us and see.
