  • This event is a free community program offered by the City of Whittier. In collaboration with the LCP we invite you to join us every-other-Monday-evening from 5:00pm-7:45pm.

Liberty Community Plaza [LCP] is located at the NE corner of Telegraph Road & Valley View Avenue. (The entrance to the public parking lot is from Valley View.)  After you enter the main (glass) entrance, take a left down the hall--the game group meets in the large cafeteria-style room.  It's a fantastic space, just built in 2015!

If you have friends or family that are local (who are not members on meetup) you can invite them to attend. Spaces are reserved for walk-ins from the community.  Snacks & drinks that are non-sticky & non-staining are allowed in the meeting room (as long as we clean up after ourselves).

Each meeting will have a featured game, which will generally be geared for people who are new to the hobby. A single table will be reserved for this game, and seats for the featured game will be taken on a first-come basis. Aside from the reserved table, there are many other tables where games will go off in an open manner, as players arrive. You are welcome to bring games you’d like to play, as long as you are willing to allow others to use them. Additionally, the host will always have a small selection of games on-hand, from his personal collection, and will be ready to teach anyone who is interested in learning them.

Meetings usually begin with shorter/lighter games (while we wait for everyone to arrive), and then we often finish with something longer. So if you can’t get there right at the beginning, don’t worry! The atmosphere is friendly but competitive, and we frequently try new games together. Kids are welcome to attend, with the understanding that there is no childcare provided, and we generally play modern board games (so you won’t find Candyland or Monopoly, etc. here). Children under age 13 must be accompanied by an adult.

We’re here every other Monday, so come on by and start your week off right by playing some boardgames with us!
