This group, Whole Food Plant Based Education is for anyone interested in exploring the nutritional aspects of plants and how their consumption can set your body up to heal itself . A Whole Food Plant Based lifestyle can heal the body and maintain optimal health. That means eating a diet compromised of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, seeds and berries.

We will discuss the whole food plant based lifestyle, the mental shift required and ways to make this diet easier in NYC.

Plant Powered Metro New York's monthly Nutrition Support Circle offers you a chance to connect with others seeking to adopt, or maintain, a whole food, plant-based (WFPB) lifestyle. Led by PPMNY Community Support Facilitator Lori Pitkowsky, LSW, Health and Wellness Coach, with PPMNY organizer and psychologist Denise Bassin, PhD, each meeting is an opportunity to share ideas, ask for help, and discuss health goals in a safe and compassionate space. Live a WFPB lifestyle with the support of others on the same path to health!

Join Plant Powered Metro New York for a casual virtual space to connect, share stories, and swap meal ideas for healthy living. We'll gather via Zoom over dinner hour and show each other what we're eating! If you're looking for meal inspiration or have questions about eating plant-based, you'll find support from like-minded members of the PPMNY community.

Registrants will be invited to share a favorite whole food, plant-based recipe through a simple online form -- either the meal you've prepared for the "potluck" or one you've enjoyed this season.

Experience the power of nutrition in healing, explore the evidence-based science, and learn practical skills to adopt a wholesome plant-based diet through Plant Powered Metro New York's 21-Day Jumpstart! Launching in late January, the jumpstart will bring together dozens of people for learning, supported by our community educators, facilitators, and lifestyle mentors. Open to residents of the New York metro area and beyond, the jumpstart offers virtual educational sessions, including culinary demonstrations, and optional in-person farmers' market tours for local participants. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to voluntarily take part in a study of the program, expected to be conducted by SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University’s School of Public Health.

Jumpstart schedule:
- Orientation session: Wednesday, January 26, 7:00 - 8:30 PM EST
- Prep session: Sunday, January 30, 3:00 - 6:00 PM EST
- Educational sessions: Sundays, February 6-27, 3:00 - 5:00 PM EST
- Weekly group mentorship meetings in affinity groups, on Wednesdays or Thursdays throughout the month of February
