Are you a writer looking for feedback on your work? Would you like to join a community of writers interested in talking about facets of the writing craft?
We meet the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays, 6:30-8:30 p.m., at R Coffee House in Riverdale. Plentiful on-street parking is available, and there is a small lot beside the American Shaman shop that group members can use as well. Suggested dues are $5, collected at the meeting.
At this meeting we will be critiquing work by Christian. Thank you, Christian, for volunteering! If you would like to have your work critiqued in future meetings, sign up in the comments below that meeting's meetup page. First come, first served! We critique one piece per session, with the first person to sign up getting the slot. The work should be no more than ten pages long and can be fiction, short story, memoir, or poetry. Please include page numbers and bring enough copies for everyone who RSVP'd, plus a few extra. Also, if the piece contains any material that could be potentially objectionable (language, graphic violence, sexual content, etc.), make a note informing readers at the top of the piece.
Arrive a few minutes early to support R Coffee House by enjoying some of their delicious drinks, baked goods, and small plates. After introductions we will spend 30-45 minutes reading the work to be critiqued in the meeting. The remaining hour or so will be spent workshopping the piece. Comments should be supportive and honest, focusing on craft, with the aim of improving the work rather than tearing it down.
