Do you need to deliver a presentation at work, to say what you mean at a meeting, to make a speech at a wedding or other social event? Would you like more self-confidence in front of an audience?
The ability and the confidence to speak well in public / deliver well structured presentations is a skill that many people wish for. Learning to speak in public is a way of building your self confidence personally, at work and socially.
The aim of Wigan & District Speakers Club is to help it's members improve their presentation skills. Our members come from all kinds of backgrounds and have vastly different levels (from nervous novices to accomplished public speakers).
Wigan & District Speakers Club is able to assist you achieve your goals by providing a friendly and supportive setting in which you can aquire new speaking skills, gain self confidence, meet new people and have lots of fun.
We are a well established group, founded in 2005. A relatively small number of participants join us via Meetup with many more additional members from our web site or our email list. So even if it looks like only a few Meetup members are attending a meeting, chances are there will more attendees. We usually have around 15 members at each club meeting.

There are lots of reasons that have motivated our members to join and many have benefitted from our mission to improve speaking skills through the A.S.C.'s structured approach which has proved so successful over many years.
We are always looking to welcome new members to join us or to attend one of our meetings as a taster session (without any pressure to participate). We meet the first and third Thursday each month from September to May.
Annual subscription for Wigan & District Speakers Club is £61 (approx. 16 meetings per year) - but first meeting can be used as a taster session at a cost of just £5 (payable to Club Treasurer on the evening) and this will be deducted from the annual fee should you decide to join. Although we don't offer refunds you will not be expected to pay £5 unless you attend the meeting - e.g. If you reply yes but drop out due to last minute change of plan then you will not be charged.
We are a not-for-profit group and all money collected is used to pay for room hire, web site costs and other member benefits.
The benefits of speaking well in public are increased self-confidence in social situations, interviews and greater promotional prospects at work. So if you think you would be interested in gaining these skills why not give us a try?
