Details

The 2012 Great American Wiknic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WIKNIC) will be the second year of the Wiknic program, and we will be holding a number of Wiknic events in locations around the Washington, DC area, including Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. A Wiknic is a great easy-in to real-life Wikipedia culture, and can lead to greater engagement in the wiki-community and with Wikimedia District of Columbia (http://www.wikimediadc.org/).

The Washington, DC event will be held on Sunday, June 24, 2012 in Dupont Circle (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dupont_Circle). Dupont Circle is easily accessible by the Red Line (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Line_(WMATA)), WMATA buses (http://www.wmata.com/bus/), or via the DC Circulator (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DC_Circulator).

Sharing of foodstuffs, like sharing knowledge, is invited and encouraged; accordingly, the Wiknic will be run on potluck (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Potluck) basis.
