Re: [diningout-635] The Wild Dining Meetup Group Mailing List - don't want junk mail either

Sara (and the wild dining members),

I am very very clear on the fact that SPAM is not the fault of the organizer... that is why I said " too much details". There are some groups that I am very active with with which some members just complained directly to  MEETUP about the group they were in due to several "emails" that they recieve that did not have anythign to do with the main purpose of the meetup. The organizer and co-organizers are not at fault but MEETUP has this policy that whatever emails are sent out via the group's messaging board is the organizer's responsibility. I feel for the organizers, hosts and co-hosts. That is why I mentioned that the organizers may get in trouble as they may be barred from opening new groups in the future. I for one do not want that.

Let me know how I can help... I co-host and organize some events... :)

Until we all meet,

Gloda

Gloda:

I appreciate your concern, but just so you are clear. Spam (that is not the fault of the organizer and the organizer is not the one who is responsible for sending it) can NOT get the organizer of the group in trouble.

Meetup Corp. is already aware of the issue and this has do with an issue with Meetup and the individual who sent out the spam. The spam is not a virus, but some poor gal who is trying to sell diet pills.

Thanks for the info...SPAM can get the organizer of the group in trouble too... too much details that I do not feel like getting into right now... lol

If you really come to think about it...SPAM...the edible kind isnt good for you eigther... lol

Have a wonderful affair to remember!

Hi All,

I just received notice that Marcia's link is a VIRUS.  DO NOT open the link!

Apparently, she lives in CA.  She has sent this spam email across the country.  I just received notice that the spam email was received in MI.

Thanks Susan!!!

Spam on these sights is actually illegal, and Meetup will be notified about this. This gal seems to be doing this in every group she belongs to.

Hello,

THANKS SO MUCH!!!  Somebody had to say something.  I don't like spam either.  It's an ABUSE of this mailing list to send us ads for ANY thing.

Susan
