First full moon of Fall: Fungi Forage
Please join us in this enchanted wood as we search for seasonal fungal fowls along with other delicacies and medicines of the earth. The flushing of autumn favorites such as Grifola frondosa (hens) and Laetiporous spp. (chickens) are notoriously unpredictable from year to year as to exact dates and locations; there is never a guarantee that the hunt will yield bounty. It is a lovely tract of forest nonetheless and worthwhile as a hike, regardless. And a great opportunity to discuss safe identification tips and responsible harvesting, along with the sharing of cooking and preserving recipes. Long pants and footwear appropriate for bushwhacking are encouraged. We will commence our walk at 12:10, so please call me directly for our whereabouts if you are running late (DJ:[masked]). Location is accessible via Septa (2-3 block walk from various bus stops).

What we're about

Our main mission is to educate the public on the many uses of wild plants and animals for food, fiber, and medicine. Wild edible plants and animals are the only truly sustainable food source, in that nature determines whether they survive and thrive. So, it's important that we respect, explore, and know nature. But we can't do it alone.

We need more tour guides and collaborative walks! Please volunteer. Go to for more information, our free Field Guides, and other important information!

Also, find the latest Plant-of-the-Week and news under "MORE", then "Message Board".
