West Philly Study Group

Fall is coming which means a whole new wild food scene with some new snacks and a few returning springtime favorites. Let's meet up at the Baltimore Ave Green Line Café at 6:00 for a brief discussion then head over to Clark Park and Woodland Cemetery. Bring your guide books and knowledge to share.

For this meetup we’re going for focus on harvesting and preparing tree crops. With any luck we should be able to find hackberries, honey locust, kousa dogwood, persimmon, black walnut, white oak, and more!

I hope some folks see this. We have gingkoes all over the ground at 47th Chester and most of the nuts are breaking out of the fruit as they hit the ground, making harvest really easy. If anyone wants to come and get them let me know [masked]. I just developed an allergy to tree nuts, otherwise I would roast them myself :( :( :(.

I went to bed still thinking about the scent of sasparilla leaves crushed in my hand and the cool kousa dogwood. Great walk, Ben! And the handout was superb!

I signed up for this with +2, which seems to be the limit... but I'd like to bring my whole family, which consists of my wife and 3 kids. They're very well behaved... would that be all right?

Not sure if I'll be out of work in time, but if I can't make this one I hope to make the next!
