Legend has it that the WILD MONKSTER had been lurking on the grounds of MONKTON PARK, Chippenham, until the mid 18th Century, but the Lord of Monkton Manor chased him into hiding. Then late this autumn a figure in a Monk’s robe was spotted in the park. The report was not confirmed but VITAL evidence was left behind: a scattering of wildflower seeds, and a note that read “Sow more, so be it” and signed simply “The Wild Monkster”

Our project is taking up the calling of the WILD MONKSTER, to bring back the beauty and diversity of wildlife to MONKTON PARK. It will focus on a neglected but highly visible section of MONKTON PARK by turning it into a thriving wildflower and community garden. The birds and the bees and all the wild people of Chippenham need this project! Please support us by joining us and getting involved!
