Come along to Winter Hill Golf Club for some festive cheer and hear all the WildCookham news!
20 species have recently been selected as priorities as part of Wild Maidenhead's Biodiversity Action Plan, they're looking for support in monitoring this mix of birds, mammals, insects and plants. We'll have the leaders of our various surveys groups reporting on their work and there'll be opportunities to ask questions and also sign up for future activities.
2018 has been a packed year for WildCookham. We've been on safaris looking for glow worms, birds, lizards, tadpoles and a multitude of insects. We've had talks on biodiversity, gardening for wildlife, entomology and veteran trees and we've even taken on our very own nature reserve! Our December meeting is all about celebrating the progress we have made in the past year and planning our activities together for the year ahead. And we need you there! Come and hear the latest on the surveys we have undertaken, find out how you can help with planned 2019 surveys and other projects (including the Harris Woodbridge Nature Reserve in Cookham Dean), learn about our Wild Gardens programme for 2019 and influence what we prioritise in the Cookhams in the year ahead.
It's now clear - from all the reports and news we get from around the world - that we face a major environmental challenge largely of our own making. This meeting is the one when you can really help us make a difference in our own backyard. Inevitably there will be mince pies and Christmas cheer too!
Please join us. As ever this event is free to attend, but feel free to put donations in the collection box.
