This month we will hear stories of traveling to the poles - North and South. Few travelers have journeyed to a pole, let alone both. But Eric Lillstrom has. This year, he also did a subpolar trip crossing the Greenland icecap. At this meetup, discover the different ways to travel to the poles and what the differences/similarities are between them. Whether extreme frontiers are on your bucket list or not, this talk is sure to inspire even armchair adventurers.
This is a free event, however, we ask those attending to donate $3 - $5 to cover meetup costs and to buy the speaker a drink. We have reserved a private room at McMenamins on Broadway. Please order all food/drink from our server as we have minimums to meet for the room. Parking is limited on Broadway, so give yourself time to find a spot, or better yet take public transport.
There is limited seating in the room so ONLY RSVP IF YOU PLAN TO ATTEND. It is important that I have an accurate headcount. If your plans change after signing up - go to Meetup.com and switch your RSVP. Talk Travels are often super popular and get wait-lists. So no showing is tough on other travelers, the speakers, and the venue. Please be considerate and honor your RSVP.
Eric Lillstrom is Assistant Director and a Lead Guide for PolarExplorers (www.polarexplorers.com). He has journeyed to numerous countries as well as both poles. Eric is an avid backpacker, bow-hunter, and fisherman. He also enjoys scuba, trail riding, and all winter sports. His advice is, “Take every opportunity offered to enjoy nature. Whether you have the time and resources for an extended adventure in some far-away place, or only have a few hours here and there to explore locally, experiencing the outdoors is what keeps us grounded and allows us to appreciate our day-to-day lives.”
Our Meetup Hosts:
Shyla & Dan Bare are International Travel Experts and co-founders of Wild Spirit Travel (www.WildSpiritTravel.com). They started this meetup group to hang-out with other travelers and to share the travel tips they learned while doing a seven-year trip around the world.
