This is an introductory level winter camping trip and wilderness skills workshop. This trip is a great follow up to the "Icebreaker" class and open to anyone interested.
This is a "car camping" trip as vehicles will be within a short walking distance and the location does have an outhouse.
Winter camping is very different than summer camping but your primary concerns are still the same. Shelter, insulation, water, and food. Many people find that little things taken for granted in the summer can make a big impact on your experience in cold weather. Things like: staying properly hydrated, wearing layers, snacks, and eating habits.
The Plan: We will meet at the Tower Parking lot on Saturday at 10am. You must bring your own meals. If you need any gear or have extra to share, please let the group know. If you have no gear at all and need complete outfitting, contact Nickofthewoods
On this trip, Nickofthewoods will guide you through various projects to increase:
• Basic knife skills
• Knot Tying Skills
• Making fire without matches
Projects may include: making a ladder, tripod, tri-stick, cooking crane, spoon carving and more.
I will send specific details and a recommended gear list to registered RSVPs.
• Overnight parking permissions
