We are a group of PROGRESSIVE women, and men, interested in rebooting the Will County chapter of the National Organization for Women. We are disgusted with the current state of affairs regarding women's rights, LGBT rights, separation of church and state and other issues currently bombarding us from all sides. We are hoping to re-ignite the Western Suburbs of Chicago by working with local organizations, people and businesses that support the mandate of NOW. As we are currently in the infant stage, please follow us here for updates on recruitment events. You can also email firstname.lastname@example.org for information. PLEASE SHARE!!!
Guess What??? It is finally time to reboot the Will County Chapter of NOW!
This has been a long time coming and I'm certain the time is right. With the continual threats to women's rights-to healthcare, sovereignty over out bodies, Supreme Court opinions hanging in the balance, and so much more, I hope you are ready to speak out.
I would like to plan our kick-off meeting for sometime in February and would like to propose a Wednesday or Thursday evening. Please respond to my e-mail address at [masked] with your choice of the following:
Wednesday, February 10 or 17;
Thursday, February 11 or 18.
We will go with when most members can meet. I would propose we meet at 7:00PM at my house in Naperville.
At this meeting, we will discuss the steps needed to begin our chapter and where each of us fits in to the plan. Please be prepared to give a brief statement of your goals for participating and any skill sets you would like to provide (or learn) to our organization as well as contacts/links in our community that you have.
You do not have to live in Will County to be part of this chapter. If you are a member of another chapter, I have a simple form that will need to be filled out that transfers your membership to Will County.
I look forward to meeting everyone-
Hi everyone. I'm trying to schedule our next meeting. I am aiming for May 11 which is a Wednesday. Unfortunately, I'm having difficulty finding a free meeting space. Does anyone have any connections to a church, restaurant, etc., that might have space we can use? I am always happy to have our next meeting at my house if we cannot find a space for our next meeting if we can't find anything yet.
Please e-mail me at [masked] or call me at[masked]. I'm happy to make the call if you provide me with the details.
Here are two groups and meetings you might be interested in learning about.
The Dupage Democratic Women Meetup is having a breakfast club meeting on Wednesday, January 11 at 10:00am. They are meeting at the Panera on Route 59 by the Showplace theater. I am planning on attending.
The second is the Illinois Democratic Women of Will County. They are hosting a meeting on Saturday, January 28 from 9:30am-12:00PM. The meeting will be in the Bolingbrook Public Library. I also plan to attend.
I hope to see you there.
In response to he shall not be named winning the election, we will be spending a day volunteering at a domestic violence shelter. Originally, this was scheduled to be held on Inauguration Day, but many were concerned they would not be able to take off from work. That being said, I have contacted the volunteer coordinator to look for another day. Please let me know if February 4 or 11 works for you.
