Welcome to Williamsburg Board Game Enthusiasts, a Meetup group for tabletop gamers located throughout Hampton Roads but mostly located on the Virginia Peninsula from Hampton to Williamsburg/James City County including Newport News and York County. We promote the Board Gaming Hobby for Eurogames and American Style Thematic Board Games for adult gamers by providing a means to connect fellow tabletop gamers for fun and friendship and providing a forum for local gaming enthusiasts to communicate. We host an open monthly weekend Game Day and The occasional game event personally hosted by our members.
This Meetup does not Feature RPG's or Card Gaming like Poker or Bridge or word games like Scrabble or Upwords though our members may play these games from time to time.
Remember, the purpose is to meet and play so members are encouraged to host Games or propose gaming events, post photos of gaming sessions, post session reports, and discuss everything else about Board games. Many of our events are Family friendly.
Nothing clever this month, just a day of gaming.
For newcomers, this is a relaxed event where folks meet up, grab tables, and play all manner of board games, long, short, big, small, and everything in-between! The event runs from 9 AM to 10 PM, but people can come and go as they please. You can bring your own games, or partake of what others have brought to share. Furthermore, if there is a specific game you’re looking to play, please ask about it in the comments — feel free to post rules/video, etc. — and see if anyone’s interested! Otherwise, just come and mingle, shmooze, play it by ear and have fun! (And if you’re particularly interested in longer and more involved games, the earlier the better! Many start almost immediately after 9 AM.)
We have a full kitchen in the clubhouse where folks bring drinks, snacks, and other such sustenance for the day. Plus a stove and microwave for cooking and reheating. You are not required to bring anything to share, but we encourage anyone who wants to! We simply ask to refrain from bringing open drink containers to the tables themselves, and to be generally respectful for how you handle other folks’ games.
When parking around the building, please be sure to pull into an UNMARKED SPACE! We will have a local boy scout troop on hire this month to tow away any violators and strip their cars for part. It's for their merit badge.
That about covers it! If you have any questions about the meetup, or are wondering about anything game-related, comment below!
