Meetings and Field Trips: To accomplish our mission, WAG will hold bi-monthly field trips from September through May and provide four evening programs during the year. Those persons interested in birding at all levels of expertise are encouraged to join us. We especially encourage beginners.

On this website you can share pictures, check the calendar for upcoming events, participate in discussions and contact fellow members. We encourage the sharing of unusual sightings, the posting of bird lists from your times in the field, and your suggestions for activities for the group. Our goal is to provide a forum as well as have fun and enjoy all of nature with a focus on birds.

For information about birding sites in and near Williamson County, visit www.centraltexasbirding.com (http://www.centraltexasbirding.com/). The Central Texas Birding website is operated by members of Williamson Audubon Group and Travis Audubon Society.

Field Trip - Granger Lake Area

Granger Lake, Sore Finger Wildlife Area Parking Lot

Join us as we look for the elusive Granger Lake area winter specialties--Mountain Plover, Burrowing Owl, longspurs, raptors, sparrows, etc. Karen McBride, Martin Byhower & Dean Saulmon will lead separate car caravans, which will start in different directions, but will cover the same route. We will carpool to keep these caravans small (preferably 2 cars each) so that everyone can see the birds we spot. Bring your two-way radios so we can communicate between cars. We will meet at 8:00 AM at the parking lot across from the radar dome on FM 971 east of Granger, TX. Sign-ups for this trip open on February 8. Our trips usually last around 3 hours. Remember to bring your binoculars, water and a lunch if you wish. Dress for the weather as we will be getting out of the cars to scope for birds. Please note that Williamson Audubon Group field trips are intended for our dues paying members. You are welcome to attend one field trip as our guest, but you should be a paid-up member for 2019 to come on subsequent trips. To become a paid-up member for 2019, you can attend the general meeting on February 11 and pay your dues, or go to the home page and scroll down to "What we're about" where you will find a link to the membership application form.

Field Trip - Lake Creek Trail

Lake Creek Trail - Braes Valley Parking Lot

Sign-ups for this trip will open on February 23. Our trips usually last around 3 hours, but of course you can leave early or stay late as you desire. Remember to bring your binoculars, water and snack if you wish. You should dress for the weather and closed toe shoes are recommended. Please note that Williamson Audubon Group field trips are intended for our dues paying members.
