We always welcome new members or visitors. Whether you are an experienced meditator or someone who is just curious about Buddhism, please feel free to stop by and join us one evening.

Every Monday at 6:00pm, we offer a discussion and meditation service. We periodically offer other events such as mini-retreats or book studies. See our website (http://windingpath.org) for details. Services are free of charge, but donations are welcome.

The Four Brahma Vihara

Winding Path Tendai Buddhist Sangha

One comes across the four Brahma Vihara or four sublime states: metta (loving kindness), karuna (compassion), mudita (sympathetic joy), and upekkha (equanimity), in many Buddhist traditions. We will examine these four states and how they interrelate and support each other. ----- Please join us at 36 Marengo Park in Springfield, MA (off of Belmont Ave). There is typically plenty of street parking just past the temple house. Please be respectful to stay clear of neighbors' driveways while parking. We are a short drive from 91. Email [masked] if you need advice about the easiest route to reach us. Our weekly service starts with a 30 minute talk or discussion led by Reverend Shingaku. (See our website windingpath.org for details about the weekly topic.) After the discussion we perform the Tendai daily service and then engage in 2 periods of meditation. If this is your first time for attending, please arrive 15 minutes early for an orientation. Please dress comfortably, and be prepared to remove your shoes. (We like to keep our space clean since many of us are sitting on the floor.)

Buddhism for Beginners Class

Winding Path Tendai Buddhist Sangha

Over the past few months we’ve had some requests for a more introductory level class. To fulfill this request, we’ll be offering a class on the last Saturday of the month after our morning meditation service. You are invited to join the meditation before the class, and it's also fine to just join the class. The class will use The Buddha and his Teachings by Samuel Bercholz (Editor) and Sherab Chodzin Kohn (Editor) as our main text. (https://www.shambhala.com/the-buddha-and-his-teachings-302.html) For the September 28 class we’ll discuss the introduction and chapter 1. Please read the chapter in advance if you plan to attend the class. ----- Please join us at 36 Marengo Park in Springfield, MA (off of Belmont Ave). Buddhist Meditation and Discussion: The Brahma Net Sutra Dialogue

Winding Path Tendai Buddhist Sangha

In our series of conversations about the Brahma Net Sutra we explore how the ten major and 48 minor bodhisattva precepts can guide us to lead a more fulfilling life. These dialogues provide a forum for debating how and whether a particular precept should guide our actions on a daily basis. ----- Please join us at 36 Marengo Park in Springfield, MA (off of Belmont Ave).
