• Road Rave 2021!!

    Daley Plaza

    ***Helmets required****

Friday nights are a lot more exciting on skates! Join us for another Road Rave. Get to know the city the way you have never seen it before, meet awesome people and exercise at the same time.

Road Raves are street skates organized by National Skate Patrol. They take place every other Friday during Summer.

Route: 10 to 14 Miles through the city. Duration approximately 2 hours. Every skate has a different theme that will be announced shortly prior to the event.

    What to bring:

A helmet (Skate Patrol absolutely requires them). Wrist guards and other pads are also recommended.

Water (there will be none on the route).

Snacks (Energy bar or something small) You will probably have to refuel at some point during a 2 hours skate.

Blinky lights if you have them.

    Required skill level:

    Know how to brake

Comfortable skating in traffic (we skate on the streets)

Ability to keep a decent pace (you don't have to be super fast but somewhat able to keep up)

Ability to step over curbs, railroad tracks, etc.

Comfortable on hills (there aren't that many in Chicago)

    What else:

This event is organized by Skate Patrol and not by this meetup group. We will stay together as a group and don't run red lights etc.

You skate at your own risk. Skaters will have to sign a Waiver to attend.
Please follow most recent CDC COVID-19 guidelines.

We typically end at a bar close to the starting location. Due to COVID 19 we have put this on hold and will end at Daley Plaza (Same place we started).

Check this page for last minute updates and more information. Road Raves are usually canceled by 3pm day of if bad weather is expected.

  • Meet at Daley Plaza - lakefront skate (today)

    Location visible to members

Last minute skate. A few of us will meet at Daley Plaza at 330pm. We will skate to the lakefront and decide from there on a direction. 10-15 miles.

    *protective gear encouraged*
You skate at your own risk

  • North suburb skate with hills!

    Needs a location

*protective gear is recommended. You skate at your own risk*

    Hi guys!

A few of us will be skating in the north Chicago suburbs. The route is mapped out - it's a 27 mile skate with hills (and views!). There will be less breaks, no dedicated sweep towards the back, and we will aim to go a little faster than our usual Friday night road rave so this will be a good workout for those who want a good challenge! There are no natural drop off points along the route, so please be prepared to complete the entire route - otherwise it's your responsibility for finding transportation back on your own. Expect the skate to take around 3-4 hours. Afterwards, we will find a place to have food and drinks!

Meetup will be at the parking lot NE corner Skokie Valley Rd. & Lake Cook Rd - slightly north of Lake Cook Rd. 143 Skokie Valley Rd. Highland Park, IL. 60035.

For public transportation there are two good options from the city

    1) Metra on UP - N to Braeside stop. Then it's about 1.5 mile walk/skate west along Lake Cook Road

    2) Red line all the way north to howard station > 213 bus. The bus will take you all the way to the gas station.

    More info to come soon!
