Argentina Wine Class

$30 per person, all inclusive

Gain in depth knowledge of the gastronomy, terroir, varietals and wine-making styles of Argentina. As of 2010, the United States is the biggest export market for Argentina’s wines! We have been bitten by the Malbec bug, and it is latest and greatest trend to infiltrate US wine stores and restaurants. This class will explore the different wine making regions of Argentina, the varying styles of Malbec, and some of the lesser know areas and varietals to be on the look-out for from this giant producer.

The style of these wine courses is designed for the beginner looking to become a professional, or an enthusiast looking to gain more knowledge and wine tasting experience. No one is born with the ability to decipher particular aromas and flavors in wine – it can only come with lots of practice, and students of these wine courses will gain great training in palate development. We discuss topics beyond the typical “abc’s,” often focusing on how to describe and understand unfamiliar wines and regions. Students of the wine class will gain experience in wine terminology, wine tasting and evaluation, wine-making techniques and styles, regions of the world, effects of climate and weather on vineyards, and over-all , interesting facts and knowledge about the wines of the world.

Typical Wine Class Schedule – 1 ½ - 2 hours in length.

2:30pm – Class starts promptly. Begin lecture, usually 30-45 minutes in length

3:15pm – wine tasting of 7-10 wines, corresponding to subject of class

4:00pm (approximately) – dismiss

For reservations, please email [masked].

Pre-payment is not necessary, but reservations are required. Seating is limited, so reserve early. If you would like to buy gift cards for our wine classes, please visit the marketplace on the website.

First class I've taken there, very informative, the lecturer has an extensive wine background and was very knowledgeable, and she was also entertaining and funny.

They provided some bread and cheese and olives to go with the tasting, and the wines we tasted were all quite good. In all, I think it was well worth the $30.

Class was a bit packed in, though, so that was the main downside, but I hope to go to future classes and tastings. Nice find, Jocelyn!

I got in on the wait list. Anyone else who hasn't been confirmed by Gretchen will not be able to attend. But I suggest checking out "Global Gourmet" and seeing if you can get in with them.
