Beautiful Ruins Discussion over beautiful wine & food

Beautiful Ruins

by JESS WALTER

Paperback, 337 pages

Book Summary

On a rocky patch of Italian coastline circa 1962, a daydreaming young innkeeper has an almost-love affair with a beautiful American starlet. She draws him into her glittering world, from the lavish set of Cleopatra to the shabby revelry of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to the back lots of contemporary Hollywood, and both begin to cling to an improbable dream.

Sorry I didn't show up. I was dealing with picking Willard up at the train station and making sure our plants in pots outside were ok.

I trust they survived the monsoon?

Sorry for the short notice on cancelling. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and can't wait to read the next one, however, I have a work conflict tonight. Looking forward to the next one.

I'm going to have to cancel tonight. I've been dealing with a summer cold/sinus infection for the last week. I really enjoyed the book and was looking forward to seeing everyone but, trust me, nobody is going to want to sit next to me and watch me sniffling and coughing.

I'm in two book groups and the other one is meeting on the same day. Beautiful Ruins is a great book. Enjoy your discussion.
