  • Mindfulness Training & Guided Meditation

    Please arrive at 11:41 am for informal sharing, Lunch is served promptly at Noon when we start our mindfulness training and then move into a guided meditation. We end promptly at  1:00 pm for those who need to return to work. We meet monthly at Flywheel (pictured here).

    On the 1st Monday of Every Month Cheryl Schirillo (that's me : ) invites you to come to Flywheel's beautiful, light-filled space (behind BioTech Place) and spend your lunch-hour with ohers who are on this same path.

    While you enjoy a colorfully-fresh, locally sourced, organic lunch I will teach you short, easy-to-practice Mindfulness Techniques and then lead a guided, nature-based meditation. I've designed this Mindfulness Lunch Circle for entrepreneurs, scientists, researchers and community-minded business folks and non-profit leaders.

    The Mindfulness Training and Lunch begins at 11:40 am for those who like to share and laugh with the wonderful people who join in each month.

    Why practice mindfulness and meditation?

    Do you perk up when you hear about how meditation increases the gray matter in your hippocampus, boosts your memory and extends the length of time you can stay in the creative flow with focus. Then you will likely enjoy hearing about current research on the benefits of morning mediation and how three-minute mindfulness exercises are effective for boosting innovation and creativity, improving sleep and reducing stress, scattered thinking and the dangerous long-term health consequences of being in a chronic state of flight or fight.

    Why I practice daily:

    I began my mostly-daily mediation practice 11 years ago when I launched my first start-up. My stress levels were off the chart and I was in critical need of a fix that would allow me to be at the top of my game when I was pitching investors and getting to the finals in business plan competitions throughout the southeast. By incorporating mindfulness into my day, I found I could more fully enjoy the wild ride I was on and be more present and peaceful when interacting with loved-ones and co-workers. 


    Currently I meditate for 10 – 40 minutes in the morning — and create moments of mindfulness throughout each day. I make time for this in my busy schedule because I've found it is the best way for me to manage stress -- and even more importantly -- repeatedly connect with my desire 

    to live an authentic, connected and joyfully-creative life.

    My bio:

    Cheryl Schirillo is President/CEO of the marketing company Bridges Connecting Communities, Inc. and Founder of the Imagination Installations Project. She has worked with a wide-range of mindfulness, Buddhist meditation and nature practices for over 15 years. She has studied extensively with Native American Shamans, Pacos from Peru and Duke Integrative Health Specialists. Her Mindfulness Consulting Practice was inspired by Otto Scharmer, Senior Lecturer at Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Sloan School of Management, and Co-Founder of the Presencing Institute and U.Lab. For the past two years Cheryl has studied with Otto and a local group of community innovators participating in U.Lab, a global movement to build a new economy by co-sensing and co-creating with the emerging future. 

    In addition to leading two, open to the public mindfulness circles each month (1st Month's at Flywheel and 1st Tuesdays at Unity), I also offer "Mindfulness at Work" Programs and Retreats for non-profits and businesses.

    Flywheel is located directly behind Biotech Place in downtown Winston-Salem, NC. Free Parking in lot “P2” lot in the WF Innovation Quarter which is between Patterson Ave and Vine Street, stretching between 6th and 7th Streets, on the north end of Wake Forest Biotech Place. When you get to the gate, press the buzzer and tell security you are attending a meeting at Flywheel. Street parking is also available. Walk in the wide alley-street behind Biotech Place, take the first, wide public walkway on left and go up the big, outdoor stairway. You will see Flywheel on your left.

    Suggested donation for Mindfulness Mondays at Flyweel is $15 - $20 to help with the cost of food and handouts. However, all are welcome to donate at whatever level feels most comfortable. Please don't let money be a barrier to your participation. If you'd like to make a larger love-investment beyond $15 in your Mindfulness Practice... that is wonderful too.
