1.1 WHY GO WINTER CAMPING? Winter camping is not for everyone. Each and every winter camp outing is and will be an adventure. The day light hours are short and the nights will be cold and long. It’s an activity that requires planning and preparation, physical stamina, an adventuresome spirit and, most of all, a positive mental attitude. In the winter, the margin for mistakes is small, with discomfort or worse as the penalty. With any luck, we will explore deeper into some beautiful country. Often with a park all to ourselves. The chances to see more wildlife than in the warmer months is a main highlight. No need for 4+ hour drives to the north shore, when we have several perfect options within 2 hours of the metro area. Highlights to include: -Frozen Waterfalls -Moonlight Skiing / Hikes / Snowshoeing -Snowpack quinzee build (weather permitting) -Warm Campfires -Leave No Trace Camping Ethics -Tongues stuck to bird feeders
