Kettle Moraine Road Ride

  • May 11, 2013 · 10:00 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

We're going for a road ride around the Southern Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest. The ride offers challenging hills and great scenery. We'll ride on quiet country roads, many of which are lined with fragrant pine trees of the state forest.

The ride is entirely on paved roads, beginning and ending in the town of LaGrange, just east of Whitewater. Our ride will include a stop at a well-known Artesian Well and we'll take a lunch break along the way. After lunch, the route splits, so that you may choose a route of either 25 or 36 miles. Maps and cue sheets will be provided to allow groups to form so everyone will be able to ride at their own pace. We will regroup at the highlighted points along the route and at the route split.

Click here for photos from last year's ride.

Plan to arrive by 10:00 AM. We will push-off promptly at 10:30 AM.

Our ride will begin at the parking lot on the NW corner of Highway 12 and County H in LaGrange.  From Whitewater, go 7 miles east on Highway 12. The map on the link above should be correct. (LaGrange General Store / Backyard Bikes is on the NE corner of this intersection. Please do NOT park in their parking lot.) If the parking lot on the NW corner of the intersection is full, you may need to park along County H, just north of Highway 12.

A very fun day with a fun group of people. Though the winds were gusty and the hills a good challenge, I am so glad I went. The ride was beautiful and I look forward to riding with this group again. Thanks for organizing this, Ron.

Sorry, with winds predicted 20-30mph I just can't. I'm a cream puff still, lol.

    Hey Ron,

Any chance of getting the que sheet before the ride? I might head up early and do one of the routes backwards.

My boybried had surgery on his toe not too long ago and our 40 miler last Sunday took a toll on him. I think we're gonna stick to the 36 Ron has planned. Thanks anyway!

What if I am not a hard core biker and may trail towards the back of the pack. That okay?

I'll be on call for my job, otherwise I'd love to attend (or perhaps I'll quit this week!)
