Join us for a fun Labor Day weekend outing, Saturday, August 31st through Monday, September 2nd, in Lanesboro, MN, along the Root River Trail.

The Root River Trail (http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/state_trails/root_river/index.html) offers 60 miles of paved bicycle trails. The trail winds through the valley of the Root River, past towering 300-foot limestone bluffs, forests and rolling fields. Along the way, you may also see wildlife including wild turkeys, deer, hawks and turkey vultures. Rattlesnakes can occasionally be found on rock outcrops, along the river bottoms, or sunning themselves on the trail.

Lanesboro (http://www.lanesboro.com/) is at the heart of the Root River Trail (http://www.rootrivertrail.org/), which branches out in three directions. Each day, there will be an option for a bike ride on one of the three branches of the trail.

We will gather each evening, beginning Friday, August 30, for a group dinner and to discuss plans for the following day. Some people may choose to join the bicycle ride, while others may choose canoeing, kayaking or tubing on the river (http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/watertrails/rootriver/index.html) (Root River Outfitters (http://rootriveroutfitters.com/), Little River General Store (http://www.lrgeneralstore.net/)), going for a tour of the Amish community (http://www.lanesboro.com/what-to-do/tours/amish-tours) (Amish Backroads Tour (http://www.amishbackroadstour.com/), R & M Amish Tours (http://www.rmamish.com/), Bluffscape Amish Tours (http://www.bluffscape.com/amish_tours.htm)) or visiting the Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center (http://www.eagle-bluff.org/) or the Lanesboro Arts Center (http://www.lanesboroarts.org/). There is a theater (http://commonwealtheatre.org/) within walking distance of our motels, so that is an option for evening entertainment.
