Amish Community Tour

  • This location is shown only to members

Join us for a ride through the Amish community to the northeast of Madison. Our ride will include several stops at various Amish stores and shops, including a general store, a wood shop, a buggy shop, a bent & dent and a bakery. The route is 32 miles and follows lightly-traveled, paved roads with rolling hills. Along the way, we will pass by Amish houses and farms and see buggies being pulled by horses. Riding will be at a moderate pace, but we will allow time to browse the shops along the way.

Plan to pack a lunch or bring some energy bars, since there are no restaurants along our route.  We'll be able to get water and snacks in the Amish community, at either the general store or the bent & dent.  Of course, we'll be able to get treats at the Amish bakery as well.

The route takes us through Glacier Hills Wind Park, where we'll get to ride past many of the Park's 90 wind turbines.

Click on the years for photos from previous rides. (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013)

Plan to arrive by 9:30 AM. We will push-off promptly at 10:00 AM.

Our specific meeting location is at the parking lot of Pardeeville Jr/Sr High School, at the intersection of Oak Street and La Follette Street in Pardeeville.

Everything was wonderful. I really enjoyed the ride. The map was well written. My only suggestion is to mention ahead of time, if there will be bathrooms available at the start. This would give everyone a heads up to build in a bathroom stop right before the ride.

I live in Madison. Can someone give me a ride to/from Pardeeville?

If you're west of Memorial Union, can you meet in front of MemUnion at 8:30? I'm east of there.

So 8:30, at the Union. Thank you!

Hi Ron- what time do you think we will finish?

    May 20, 2014

    • Ron

Everyone rides at their own pace and decides how much time they wish to spend at the Amish shops, so there is not a specific answer. However, I believe most people complete the ride somewhere between 2 PM and 3 PM.
