Come join us as we explore the Military Ridge State Trail (http://www.dnr.state.wi.us/org/land/parks/specific/militaryridge/) from Madison to Mount Horeb. While in Mount Horeb (http://www.trollway.com/), known as the Troll Capital of the World, we'll have lunch at The Grumpy Troll (http://www.thegrumpytroll.com/), then tour the town a bit, checking out the trolls, before returning to Madison.
The total distance for the ride is about 35 miles. Riding will be at a casual pace. The trail has a crushed limestone surface and is suitable for hybrid bikes or road bikes with wider tires. The trail runs along an abandoned railroad line and is very flat.
Note: A Wisconsin state trail pass (http://www.dnr.state.wi.us/org/land/parks/fees/index.html#trailpass) is required to ride on the trail. We will stop at a self-serve station along the trail, where you may purchase a daily trail pass in case you have not yet purchased an annual trail pass.
Plan to arrive between 10:00 AM and 10:15 AM. We will push-off promptly at 10:30 AM.
