Enlightenment, Emanuel Kant

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude) 'Have the courage to use your own understanding,' is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

I see massive nonage in America today, but I think the coming generation, known as "The Millennials" will manage to toss off the chains that our religilous society drilled into every generation before and including the "Baby Boomers".

If you want to read the rest of this from Columbia University just go to; http://www.columbia.e.... It's very interesting to read to the end.
