WiseMouth CircleSinging is a CT-based improvisational choral community who gather to sing with heart and attitude. Together we create beautiful music and cultivate joy and a sense of belonging. Everyone is welcome.

CircleSinging is a form of facilitated Vocal Improvisation which can be described as: improvised choral music, kirtan in the round, and organized vocal jamming. During the course of the ever-changing CircleSong, the leader develops and gives parts to a circle of singers, who in turn support individual solos.

What’s in it for me? It’s fun. It’s creative. There is no sheet music so no musical training is required. You won’t be asked to sing by yourself if you don’t want to, but you will have opportunities to stretch should you choose to.

CircleSinging happens all over the world and dates back to the earliest forms of human singing. Our particular circle is led by experienced singers and improvisors who’ve studied extensively with Bobby McFerrin and Rhiannon. They take turns leading CircleSongs, bringing creativity, fun, excitement as well as a high level of musicianship, to the circle. Once the circle is going, they might step out of the middle for a while, inviting others a chance to solo, or even lead.

CircleSinging is a “regret-free zone." Newcomers say, “It doesn’t matter how you sound – the rest of the group makes you sound great!” Your only regret will be missing out on the fun. Come find your voice and make a joyful noise.
