Helping the CASSEROLE Way for Homeless Teens at Bill Wilson Center

Cook a CASSEROLE at your own home, in your own kitchen, for homeless teens and bring it to Judy's house Thursday night or Friday morning.  She will bring it to the Teen Drop In Center at 11:00 on Friday morning.  We provide the recipe, and you can help teens living on the streets of San Jose!  How easy is that?

Background:  We have been working with the Bill Wilson Center to develop two programs where WISH volunteers can help. Bill Wilson Center is a San Jose area non-profit that assists youth and families through providing housing, counseling and advocacy. The Bill Wilson Center runs 22 housing and crisis centers.  We have chosen to work with two teen facilities, a crisis center and a drop-in center.  • To work directly with teens, you need to fill out the clearance papers.  You need t.b. testing and fingerprinting. The testing is free, and there is lots of paperwork, but it is really worth it!   If you are interested, email Judy at [masked] and ask her to send you the forms. This will be a wonderful opportunity to touch the lives of young members in our community and show them how much we care.

• You can help now, even with no clearance!  Bill Wilson has a Drop-In Center where they help teens who are living on the streets, both with food and a place to sleep over night. We can make food for them!

• •   Giving the Casserole Way  Our casserole this week is Chicken Potpie with Biscuit Crust.   Click on this link for the recipe:  https://docs.google.com/document/d/189KwOS-bNRvHkGQrGE8_ngfkmFKDq8ODSn9JXBH0C2o/edit?usp=sharing

If you would like to make a casserole, sign up as YES for this event, and email Judy at [masked] to get her address to bring it to her on Thursday night or Friday morning:   You would buy the ingredients, and cook it at your home.  Bring it cooked, warm and ready to serve!

If you cannot help with food items, we can always make a donation of funds to help WISH pay for the ingredients. You can use Google Wallet or Paypal  for your donation to [masked]. Please select "friends and family" at PayPal to avoid Paypal taking a portion of your donation. Remember ALL your donations are now tax deductible. Just let us know if you need a receipt.

Thanks as always for a wonderful group of volunteers.  Post a question if you have one!    Thanks so much!  We are so grateful for your continuing support.
