What we're about
Like birds? Like beer? Then you're in the right place.
This group was created by the Wissahickon Valley Watershed Association (WVWA) in Ambler, PA, for laid-back birders of all levels of bird obsession (from being willing to wake up pre-dawn to drive 8 hours to see a rarity, to being completely unwilling to wake up pre-dawn to drive 8 hours to see a rarity). We also like to try out different beers and local breweries.
The Wissahickon Valley Watershed Association is a non-profit, member-based conservation organization committed to preserving, protecting, and restoring open space and natural areas both for wildlife and people. We are hoping to draw more visitors to our preserves, which are havens of wildness in an otherwise suburban landscape, so that they might enjoy the natural world we are working so hard to protect.
Anyone interested in birding and being out in nature - or just hanging out with cool birders (because we all know we're cool) - should join.
We meet at a few times each month on either a Friday or Saturday, and hit up spots in and around the Philly area to bird, hike, and share fun times. Most hikes will be held at WVWA preserves as well as local parks, but we also take longer day trips to birding hotspots. All of our events are casual and followed by a trip to a nearby brewery or pub.
