An introduction to the "With an Open Mind" Disussion Group

From: Vernon

For all who may be wondering if this is a group for you ...

Michael Clifton, one of our newer members, recently attended his first session, and, with the consent of all other participants, he took a video of the evening's discussion.  He has now posted that video on the internet, so it is available for all to watch.

As the moderator of the session, I must offer an explanation for the "quality" of the audio.  For much of the evening, there was a second activity taking place at the opposite end of the room in which we were holding the discussion.  The "noise" from that activity will be a significant "distraction" as you watch and listen to the recording (though it did not seem so during the discussion itself).  Nonetheless, if you choose to view all or at least part of the video, you should get a good feel for what the group is all about.  As you'll note, we meet in a relatively comfortable setting.  The group size you see is typical (i.e., 5-15 participants).  The discussion is a "moderated" one ... with leading questions being posed and responded to.  Everyone is encouraged to participate, and everyone's shared perspective is respectfully listened to.

I encourage you to watch the video, get a feel for what a typical session "looks" like, then join us at an upcoming session.

  Vernon, Group Organizer
