Bow & Arrow Making Workshop

Everyone loves shooting bow and arrow, but there is something magical about drawing that string back on your the first good bow you made yourself. Today, we’ll run through all the steps needed to making your own traditional bow and arrow, from harvesting good materials together, to learning to season them properly, to gaining the “artisan eye” before cutting wood, to shaping a bow to size, to learning to straighten an arrow, to fletching that arrow with feathers and using sandstone to shape slate or antler into an arrowhead, to tillering and balancing your bow, to forming string notches and arrow nocks, to making the strongest possible string. We’ll also have an archery range set up so you can learn proper shooting technique, and test some bows at the end of the workshop.

This workshop costs $65 which instruction and dinner. If you would like to take home bow and arrow making materials, costs will range from $5-$65 per item depending on type, size, quality of materials which will be tagged with prices/descriptions to help you decide what to start the working with. However, you don’t need to purchase any materials if you just want to work through the bow and/or arrow making steps to simply learn during the workshop.
