This Weekend:

On Friday October 25, teams will be competing for 24-hrs to re-imagine the way metropolitan cities work and live day-to-day. The goal of the hackathon is to see what creative minds would do differently if they could build a city from scratch today. Teams will attempt to offer solutions to the biggest problems facing Chicago, such as unemployment, public services, and high operating costs. The top three teams will win $5K in cash.

The hackathon will be hosted at Ifbyphone's office in downtown Chicago and registration is free.
Participants will have access to mentors and a panel of judges with experience in startups, venture capital, and open government. Here is our current list of judges:

  • Fred Hoch - CEO of Illinois Technology Association and Founder of TechNexus
  • Bill Driegert - Chief Innovation Officer of Coyote Logistics
  • Wayne Boulais - General Partner at Apex Venture Partners
  • Ethan Austin - Co-founder of GiveForward
  • Dave Goodman - Former Director of Technology of City of Chicago, Orbitz and TicketsNow

(We will be lobbying for women to be judges!)

We have a number of sponsors and data partners including Facebook, Microsoft, Generation Opportunity, Lightbank, SpotHero, IfbyPhone, GiveForward, OpenSecrets, 3taps, Dwolla, and several others.
