Women Connecting Through Writing is a free-writing practice and support group for women who: love to write; have studied writing or not; have published or not; are inspired by or simply interested in writing with and sharing their writing with others; want to write freely, openly and honestly about lots of things with others in a supportive environment; want to connect with other women who love writing for support, inspiration and camaraderie.
In this group, we'll do two timed free-writes per meeting, using prompts provided by the group's leaders at first, and later, by all of us who feel inspired. We'll read our writing aloud to each other after each free-write and focus our final writing of the meeting on what comes up. It's always interesting and often surprising, inspiring and moving to follow a writing path together and see what we each come up with. Therapeutic and often healing. Great for blasting through writer's block or rebooting our writing motivation.
WHAT WE'LL DO
We'll introduce ourselves and start writing! Two freewrites where the goal is to keep your pen moving, the thoughts flowing, and move past your critic and editor. The first is an "I am" or "I feel" check-in, the next, we choose a topic or skill-dialogue, for example. Then we read our writing out loud, giving positive feedback and connecting with each other in our experiences as women and as writers. A safe, supportive place to just write.
Since we've been meeting, some of us are feeling inspired to work on a writing project. We may start adding small/short writing projects that we share, too ~ come join us!
