What we're about

If you love adventure, the outdoors, or global traveling/trekking, then you found a new place to be. This is an all women group that will focus on trips/treks/outdoor adventures that will cater only to women so as to provide a comfortable space for female camaraderie. Our events will range from day hikes, wilderness weekend backpacking trips, overseas trekking, traveling, camping, yoga retreats, marathons, long walks, rock climbing, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, and all other forms of movement that will create and and maintain an active & healthy lifestyle for each of us ...and all ideally done in the ever welcoming atmosphere of the outdoors.

My social enterprise, Peak Explorations, which markets trekking adventures to solo hikers, also focuses on women empowerment and promoting women's presence in the great outdoors. As such, this is open to all women from diverse backgrounds & various levels of skills when it comes to hiking or backpacking. Our calendar will have regular Backpacking 101 courses to motivate those who are new to hiking/backpacking/traveling to venture out locally and beyond. This is a safe place for all members to be themselves and to enjoy their time away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Join us and experience life as it happens on the move!

To connect women nationwide to the outdoors and for a diversity of women to connect on the mountain trails, Women Explorers on the Move has chapters launched in various locations in the U.S.

Kilimanjaro Climb Lemosho Route (co-ed & female led)

Needs a location

Kilimanjaro is one of the 7 Summits - one of the highest in the world. It's completely non-technical but what makes it challenging is the altitude. More than anything, a climb up the peak of Kilimanjaro is a mental game. There are various routes one can take to the peak but the rule is to go as slow as possible for a successful summit day. The Lemosho route is considered the most scenic trail in Kilimanjaro and it provides a longer time to acclimatize to increase the chances of a successful summit. This is our special trek to promote the roles of female guides and porters in Kilimanjaro. This trip is CO-ED (open to men and women). We will have a mix of male and female guides and porters as part of our mission to create inclusion in the industry. This trek is also in support of the work to elevate the voices of the porters via The Porter Voice Collective (PVC). Portion of the trip cost will be used to support the work of the PVC in Kilimanjaro to tell stories from the viewpoint of the porters. The funds will be used towards supporting the PVC film crew in Tanzania by way of gear purchases and in employing filmmakers/videographers to create video interviews and documentaries about the lives of porters in Kilimanjaro. The PVC works with porters in Nepal, Peru and Tanzania by creating content that celebrates, amplifies and elevates their voices. ITINERARY DAY 1 - ARRIVAL AT KILIMANJARO AIRPORT Arrive at Kilimanjaro airport and then transfer to hotel in Moshi or similar for overnight. DAY 2 - VISIT TO PORTERS' COMMUNITY Today, we meet some of our porters and visit an actual community to learn more about their families and community. We encourage full immersion and interaction between our clients and the trekking team as a way to educate travelers about the realities of working as a porter and how you can be an ally in improving the current standard of industry practices on the trails. Take this as an opportunity to become a more responsible tourist. In the afternoon, we do gear preparation.
