2017 WVSA Trip to DC for Veterans Day Weekend

  • to

  • Needs a location

  • Let's go to Washington D.C. for the 2017 Veterans Day weekend and celebrate us and our time in military service!

Veteran's Day will be on 11 November (Saturday) in 2017. We'll plan on leaving 9 Nov and return 12 Nov (Thu-Sun). That'll give us time for traveling, touring, having fun, and returning home.

Our main mission is to visit the "Women in Military Service for America Memorial"...aka the Women's War Memorial.

You can go to this site to register your military story with the memorial.... Do it before the trip and you'll be able to look yourself up in their database when we get there.

We will also like to do a tour of the major landmarks of the DC area. These are some of the landmarks we're thinking of...

    -Lincoln Memorial
    -Arlington Cemetery
-Tomb of the Unknown Soldier/Changing of the Guard
    -The Vietnam Women's Memorial
-The Korean War Veterans Memorial                                         -The Smithsonian

Give your suggestions for other sites to see in the comments section.

Flight & Hotel: We are researching flight and hotel information in order to get the best group prices. ***If anyone has a "hookup" in the travel industry, please let us know.

DC Transportation: Bus or van, depending on the size of our group.

We're posting this early so that you can start planning for it now because it's going to be a big trip. Please RSVP if you're interested. We will update this site with current information at the time gets closer.

Our Middle School went last summer and we got a wreath laid at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in honor of our school. Any thoughts on having that done for WVSA?

      I think that's a GREAT idea!
