(Boulder) GitHub Training

This is going to be an awesome event for all of you interested in Git, Github, and version control! You aren't going to want to miss. This usually costs $$, but Tim is nice enough to be doing it for free for WWC especially. Make sure you take advantage of it!

Tim Berglund from github will be providing a 2 hour training on Git/GitHub.

From Tim: "Absolutely have laptops with git pre-installed.  The session is very hands-on, and includes everything from creating a repo to doing pull requests on GitHub. We'll basically pack as much into the two hours as we possibly can. The goal is to get everybody comfortable with the basics."

Which means...

*Bring your laptops!
*Install git on your machines prior to the meetup!

Agenda

6:00 - 6:30pm - grab a bite and mingle with fellow WWC members

6:30 - 8:30pm - github training

*Please note, we'll be ending 30 minutes later than usual this month to fit in the training.

* Please note, we have changed the normal meeting time from the first Thursday in May to May 9th, in order to accomodate Tim's schedule!

See you all there!

Please Note: This group is only open to people that identify as women. Emphatically queer- and trans-friendly.

Git is at the top of my list of things to conquer - and soon! But... I develop on an iMac, and the only laptop in the house is a windows system. I worry I would spend more time trying to get around on it than learning Git! Thoughts?

      Thanks again for the Mac-share!

Yeah I'm with Julianne. Installed Git means creating a github account correct? I don't see anything to "install" or "download" I'm as beginner as it gets if you couldn't tell.

You can also type "which git" to see the directory it is installed under (helpful to make sure you're working in the right directory). Ladies we can totally figure this out together tonight at the training. No worries. That's what tonight is about! :)

ha - I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around it myself (I had to view several online tutorials to make sure I had everything set up correctly)... so appreciative we have trainings like this available!
