Code Liberation (http://codeliberation.org/)’s Peripatetic Programmers & Bridge Foundry (http://bridgefoundry.org/) Present
Introduction to 2d game programming using Unity3d.
Women comprise a mere 4% of game developers. Racial minority and queer voices have very little room in mainstream games culture. We are dedicated to empowering diversity in an industry that is overwhelmingly white and male. While the Code Liberation Foundation has traditionally only served women, we are opening this class up to a wider audience to cultivate support for a new narrative within the industry.
Unity has proven to be a remarkable tool for indie game development. Indie games such as Gone Home, The Silent Age, 140 and Device 6 were created on the platform. In late fall of 2013, Unity added support for 2d games. In this 3 hour workshop, we will give indies an overview of how to create their own 2d titles. No previous programming skills will be assumed and we will go from 0 to game during the class. Topics include: Sprite sheets, game UI, animation, game mechanics and user input.
This class is open to any minorities in game development (EG race, gender, sexuality, etc…)
