Women's Javascript Study Group

  • Apr 2, 2014 · 6:30 PM

We're a group of women who want to learn JavaScript together. We welcome people of all levels, but beginners are especially encouraged. You move at your own pace in this group, so it doesn't matter if you are a fast or slow learner, or if you attend every week.

We meet every Wednesday, 6:30 - 9pm. Free (non-pizza) dinner included, with gluten-free and vegetarian options.

Please be punctual - we go upstairs at 6:30pm sharp. We check the lobby once more at 6:45pm for latecomers but if you will be later than 6:45pm, please skip the group. We have to come down from the 6th floor to the lobby to get latecomers, so it's disruptive to dinner and coding to do so.

Our meetings begin with yummy food catered by our host, Zoosk, and we eat with Zoosk employees (some of whom can answer JS questions!). Afterwards, we have a short discussion or a presentation on a related topic when scheduled, then all hop on our laptops and work on JavaScript tutorials and help each other when we get stuck. Most of us are using, but we welcome other tools. Although the focus is on JavaScript, we also cover closely related topics such as HTML and CSS.

(The only tools you need to start using JavaScript are a web browser and optionally a simple text editor or code editor.)

Thanks to Zoosk, our wonderful sponsor, for the food, space, and support.

Our entrance is to the right of the Blick Art Supply Store on Market Street, one block southwest of Powell Street BART and the Westfield Mall. If you're afraid of the dark, no worries -- we can all walk to BART/Muni together afterwards. Just go on in (or knock if it's locked), and a friendly Zoosker (Beth or Kristin) will meet you in the lobby.

PS - If you want to come but don't have a laptop, just RSVP with a note and we'll try to find one for you.

This event is exclusively open to people who identify as female.

I'm very sorry you missed the group. Our actual start time is 6:30 and the cut off for latecomers is 6:45. I updated the description to add bold and italics. I hope you can make it to the next meetup.

My apologies. You do have a perfectly clear description. Viewing the meeting from my phone, only the 'Our entrance is to the right of the Blick Art Supply Store...' paragraph is displayed.
I've been to your meetup once before (typically have class on Tuesday nights, so only can come when on break), so I know you run an excellent event. Furthermore, I appreciate all the WWC organizers who make the standing meetings happen week after week, so I apologize for letting my disappointment get the better of me earlier.
