• What we'll do

Java 11 is almost here with new features. Before totally jumping to it, let’s take a step back and see how Java 8, 9 & 10 has changed our lives as Java Developers. In this talk, we’ll be going through the spotlight features of these versions focusing specifically on the releases starting from Java 8.

This workshop is facilitated by our network members Svetlana Mae Ebbah and Chaitanya Rb.

Svetlana Mae Ebbah: Svetlana has been using Java for over 9 years. She graduated in Manila, Philippines and is currently working as a Senior Software Engineer at a leading Investment Bank in Singapore. She works mostly on server side technologies and is currently playing around with technologies like ELK and Apache Kafka.

Chaitanya Rb: Chaitanya has 9 years of IT experience and works as a Senior Software Engineer for an Investment Bank in Singapore. She graduated from India with degree in Bachelors of Engineering in Computer science. Java has been part of her career all along. She is a server side coder and likes to explore new technologies in market. She is currently exploring the ELK stack.

This event is intended for everyone who aims to support & inspire women in technology careers.

• What to bring
Kindly note that this session is not a workshop. Please bring your laptop along if you would like to code along with our presenters. Bringing your laptop along is not required for this event.

Some pre-requisites installed in case you bring your laptop:
- Java 8 (the default language of choice for this training)
- IntelliJ IDEA or Eclipse

• Important to know
Please bring your photo id for registration at the venue reception.
