What we're about
We will meet once a month at 6.30 in a York pub or wine bar to chat about topics relevant to women today. There will be no political bias and extreme views will be discouraged but it is assumed that all attendees will believe in equal rights and opportunities for all women of the world and a right to informed choice about all aspects of our lives. Each session will have a topic agreed in advance. The type of topics will be the sort of thing discussed on BBC’s Woman’s hour, for example “Has the Me Too movement complicated sexual relations?”, “Should we wear high heels?”, “Should culture be a consideration for women’s rights?”, “should the law make a distinction between so-called date rape and rape by strangers?”, “Should we be ignoring claims made for cosmetics e.g. skin creams?” It is hoped that discussions will be fun and friendly. All women welcome but essentially for business and professional women over the age of 40. There will be a fee of £10 per year (or £5 per six months) to cover Meet Up subs. Drinks will be paid for by members on the day.
