I wanted to start a group in Green Bay for Women who not only struggle with depression, anxiety or any other mental illness but aim to thrive despite it. I want to have a place that is confidential. A place where we can come together and support one another but also to have fun. I know when my depression is at its worse I not only isolate but feel very alone. The most important thing for anyone who struggles with mental illness is to know you are never alone. Through this group we come together to support one another in a variety of ways, including fun activities.
I am going to ask that in order to maintain membership all members will need to attend at least one meet up a month. This way I can meet you and find out who is serious about being a member. Four no-shows to a meetup that you sign up for will result in being dropped from the group ( unless a good reason is given to the organizer of the group). This is closely watched and is strictly enforced. After no activity in the group for two month...I do ask you to leave. So please don't ask to be a member if you don't plan to be active. (Active to me is just keeping an eye on the website...checking in. And of course attending m eetups is greatly appreciated, and I know is very hard for some to do). I will try to do what I can to make it easier to come to the first group. But I need you to contact me if it's really a struggle. I will work with you.
I want to make this group as interactive and member friendly as possible. In order to do this I do periodically ask for feedback from members to make sure we are benefiting the most members that we can.
I sincerely hope that each person who joins this group is able to find what they are looking for in terms of support from the community. No one deserves to struggle through mental illness alone, Strength comes in Numbers.
