Silent Practice for all Levels
Start your week with positive self-reflection and consciously build your inner resources. Together we will engage the power of silence and the shared energy of group practice. Through sitting and allowing, we let go into non-doing for the benefit of our body and mind; by meditating with others we offer the benefits of mutual focus and sacred intent to one another.
Each class begins with 15 minutes of stretching, breathing and simple mantra or toning in preparation; please respect the silence when you arrive, and guide yourself through the preliminaries. Toning and mantra are the only sounds that will penetrate the silence. Feel free to stretch, do breathwork and tone at your own pace prior to the silent practice. After 15 minutes, the meditation bowl will sound, and together we embark on 45 minutes of silent practice in our chosen posture. The meditation bowl will sound again, and we close with 15 minutes of questions. We will engage together the common issues we all face when learning to meditate and when diving deeper into the practice. By asking questions and having assistance, we can work through obstacles as they arise and learn new techniques as the practice progresses. We will also have the opportunity to discuss the siddhis that are the gifts and benefits of a sustained meditative path.
$7/person exchange.* You may quietly join in if you arrive late. Mats, blankets, backjacks and chairs provided. Wear comfortable clothing; bring a cushion if desired. All levels of physical ability will be supported. Sitting on a mat or blanket is recommended, but for those who cannot, chairs and backjacks will be provided, as well as mats for shavasana (reclining) meditation.
