[Workshop] Resumes/Interviews Pt. 1

Join us for the Women's Society of Cyberjutsu (WSC) Cybersecurity Workshop hosted from our Washington, DC location. This is a "soft skills" workshop where you will fine tune your non-technical skills, which are just as important as your technical skills. Topics covered in soft skills workshops include resume writing, interviewing, interpersonal communication, public speaking, workplace etiquette, dress code, and more!

Agenda:

This is a two-part workshop: Pt. 1 - Resume writing/review; Pt.2 - Interviewing

Workshop is 1:00 - 5:00

Pt. 1 Resume writing/review

Are you getting calls from recruiters?  Are the calls for jobs that you are interested in?  Your resume is the first chance for a recruiter and/or hiring manager to notice you.  Does your resume communicate your strengths effectively?  Is your resume selling you?  If the answer is no to any of these questions, get your resume in front of cybersecurity professionals that are or have been hiring managers in the past and get real world feedback.  The goal of this session is to provide individuals with constructive feedback on how your resume is viewed by the audience you are trying to win over.

Work one-on-one or in small groups with mentors to get the feedback you need to help improve your chances to getting the interview.

For attendees, bring your in hard copy and include the type of cyber jobs you are looking for, so we can match you with a hiring manager with expertise in your specific discipline.

Pt 2. Interviewing

Your resume got the attention of the hiring manager.  Are you ready for the interview?  How do you carry yourself?  What are your answers to the soft skill questions that help a hiring manager get a sense of you?  Bring your resume and be prepared to go through a real-world style interview.  Get feedback from current and former hiring managers on what works and where you could use a tweak to help convey that you are the best choice for that next job.

Work one-on-one or in small groups with mentors to get the feedback you need to help improve your chances to getting the job. We will do mock interviews with current/previous hiring managers.

For attendees, bring your in hard copy and include the type of cyber jobs you are looking for, so we can match you with a hiring manager with expertise in your specific discipline.
