What we're about

ALERT: Due to public health recommendations for people to stay home and practice social distancing, this meetup group will be closed until the stay at home order is changed to allow for hiking in groups.

We are a group of active, fit women in our 40's, 50's, 60's and up who enjoy getting out and hiking in nature in a supportive and safe environment. We offer social pace (slower) and brisk pace (faster) hikes at easy, moderate and hard levels. Difficulty of hike is determined by three factors- length, elevation gain and pace.

The “pages” section (see links) contains our legal disclaimer/waiver and group guidelines. By joining this group and attending hikes, you agree to abide by the liability waiver and group guidelines. https://www.meetup.com/Womens-Hiking-Connection/pages/29462505/Liability_Waiver_-_Member_Agreement

We use a very small yearly membership fee to cover the cost of meetup and support the Washington Trail Association (WTA). In the exceedingly rare event someone is removed from the group, there are no refunds.

Please turn on message notifications so you can receive messages for hikes you are signed up to attend.

Easy Hikes: Usually under 1000 feet in elevation gain, 4-7 miles long and at an easy pace. In order to complete an easy hike, members should be able to walk at least 3 miles on pavement, including a significant hill, in one hour. Easy hikes are usually on Sunday mornings.

Moderate Hikes: Under 2000 feet elevation gain, 4-12 miles and moderate pace. Hikers may be screened for experience and gear. Members without hiking experience should not sign up for a moderate hike unless they have completed an easy hike. Moderate brisk pace hikes are usually on Saturdays. Moderate social pace hikes are usually on Sundays.

Hard Hikes: Over 2000 feet in elevation gain, 4-16 miles and moderate to fast past. Hikers may be screened for experience and gear. Members must be able to keep up with a brisk pace and should have significant hiking experience. Hard hikes are usually on Saturdays.

Please only sign up for the type of hikes you are capable of completing with the group. Looking forward to seeing you on the trail!
