I have struggled for years with my mental health and I have spent most of those years attempting to hide the struggle from the people around me. When I did engage with groups and services available to me, they felt alien and added to my feelings of isolation.
It can be hard to maintain relationships with people who maybe don't understand what you're going through or friendships are more superficial than we would like.
Now I am talking openly about my challenges and I want to help ensure that there is a space for people like me, an open but safe space to explore our challenges, recovery and wellness - to share stories and to find friendship, shared experiences, community and whole person support.
It can be happy, funny, difficult, sad, uplifting - it could be not about mental health at all.
This will be a local ish community of women and femme identifying individuals with a spectrum of challenges taking small steps towards change and empowerment.
If this is something that you are down for - please join us. Can't wait to meet you.
Edit 9/6/2020: RB who created the group and wrote the above ^^^ backed down as the organiser and the group was at risk of closing down. Meetup requested volunteers from the group to step up and take over and I put myself forward.
I shall keep RB's statement of group purpose up as I feel that her words resonated with us all and is therefore still valid.
