Visit Russia and explore a land of fairy tale architecture and dramatic history. Begin your journey in Moscow, where you will experience one of the largest cities in the world and the symbolic heart and soul of the country. Enjoy a tour of the city beginning at the massive red walls of the Kremlin and ending at the popular Arbat shopping district. Along the way, visit the Armory Museum, the lovely Alexander Gardens and the Red Square, dominated by Lenin's Tomb and colorful St. Basil's Cathedral.
Next, visit the Tretyakovsky State Gallery, known for its finest collection of Russian art and one of the greatest art museums in the world. Enjoy an evening at leisure and perhaps enjoy the glitter of the city lights with the optional evening tour that travels a few stops on the unique subway, with its lavishly decorated stations in marble, mosaics, chandeliers and statues.
Board the high-speed train that travels to St. Petersburg, Russia's second-largest city, after Moscow, and enjoy a welcome dinner with traditional cuisine. On a tour, view the monumental St. Isaac's Cathedral, the neo-classical Mariinsky Palace, the imposing Bronze Horseman monument to Peter the Great, the Admiralty, Palace Square and the remarkable Winter Palace and Hermitage, and visit the Peter and Paul Fortress, housing the crypts of several Russian Czars. Plus, spend time visiting the renowned Hermitage Museum, housing the largest and richest collection of Western art in the entire world.
Lastly, visit the Yusupov Palace, which was the home of one of the wealthiest and most distinguished noble families in the 19th century. The opulent and exquisitely decorated interior has been recreated and now functions as a museum, a theatre and the St. Petersburg Palace of Culture.
